Well we finally made it to the ship. After many months of planning, packing and taking many medications / vaccinations we are finally here in San Diego. Maxx and I have taken a few pictures of us with our luggage and the ship itself. The ship is a good size but wish it was bigger. Mostly, because my fear of getting sea sick.
Getting our bags on the plan and to the ship was adventurous. Trying to get 350lbs of luggage into one single taxi the size of a prius wagon was an impressive feat. We did break a couple pieces of luggage already. Go figure. Was thinking that would happen a lot later in this journey.
Unpacking all of our luggage into our spacious 300 sq ft room reminded me of when we moved into our apartment in NYC. Amazingly, it all fit thanks to the tips of previous passengers. Having folding luggage to go under the bed and hanging closet racks was priceless. I took a video of the room but it recorded to the side. Not sure how that happened but it’s all I got right now. Just turn your head to the side and enjoy.
Maxx and I spent several hours walking all over downtown San Diego shopping for snacks and other supplies to start the journey. Of course, we had to start the shopping trip with slurpees (slushies). The funniest thing happened to us while we were shopping. We were on our way to lunch and passed by the local health and hygiene office. A lady asked me if we were ok and if we needed any assistance with a place to stay or a job. I guess with the big white bags she must of thought we were homeless! Nice. Not sure what that says about Maxx and I regarding how we looked but we both had a good chuckle. Made for some good lunch conversation with a 9 year old. Had a great dinner at the Melting Pot last night.
Thank you to Jennifer and Charlie for taking the drive to San Diego to hang with Patty, Maxx and I. We had a great time!
This is our last day of getting ready to go. I think we now have everything we need especially all our medications. It is hard to believe how many pills etc. we will be taking over the next 4 months. Off to go play ping pong and then need to figure out this home schooling situation and when to start. That will be a fun / interesting experience for both Maxx and I.
Happy Birthday Lori and Easton!
Happy New Year everyone
